One Click

It’s so easy to get into the mode of buying things for others and for ourselves. Just the other day I was online buying gifts for a baby shower and found myself buying other "necessities." Before I knew it, I had 7 purchase confirmation emails! Sandwich bags people. With the website’s one-click button, our culture has made it easy to buy anything. Some of the things you wouldn’t even think of unless they were suggested. Companies convince you that you have to have it through pop up ads, links, showing the same item you just researched on one site on another, Amazon's one-click, free shipping, etc.

Isn’t it interesting though how hard it is to do a “buy with one-click” for God? That “click” can be difficult. We have to remember that when we give we are not losing an opportunity to buy other things but we are actually allowing God to use us to create more opportunities for others to learn about Him, get to know Him, and care for others through us, so they have the joy of following Him themselves.

Everything we have in this world is given to us by God. Knowing where it comes from frees us from the attachment to materials items that will just disappear or rot away sooner or later. I encourage you to set your mind on the things of God as we read in this verse in Paul’s letter to the Colossians - “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:1-2 NIV

When we focus on the things of God and trust that He will always provide, we are no longer enslaved by the material things of this world. Free yourself and see what God can and will do in your life. Try regularly doing a “buy with one click” for God and His mission for us here on Earth and watch what He will do in your life.
