Passion

"A great leader’s courage to fulfill his vision comes from passion” - John Maxwell

The catalyst behind the world’s greatest works and greatest achievements of all time is PASSION. Passion is what creates greatness and fulfills visions placed in your heart. Unfortunately, many of us quit on passion when we encounter failure. I know I have. Failure can be difficult especially when failure becomes a pattern.

Have you ever been there? Passionate to make a dream come true? Passionate to finally make your marriage work? Passionate to finally get your business to where it should be? But all you encounter is failure?

To bring some inspiration into your heart and reignite your passion, I’d like to share a couple of stories and quotes of those who have encountered failure but their passion caused them to rise above!

Steve Jobs

Have you ever heard of Apple? Not the fruit, the tech company. You are probably familiar with it because of the piece of technology you have with you almost 100% of the day, your iPhone. Apple is a multi-billion dollar company with over 4,000 employees. Did you know that Steve Jobs was fired from the very company he began? Being fired made him realize that his passion for his work exceeded the disappointment of failure. Opportunities eventually led Jobs back to the CEO position at Apple.

“I didn’t see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me,” Jobs said in 2005.

Michael Jordan

“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” This quote by retired basketball legend Michael Jordan is known by many as the greatest NBA player of all time.

Walt Disney

Walt Disney creator of Mickey Mouse had his fair share of failures. His first business Laugh-O-Gram Studios went bankrupt due to his lack of ability to run a successful business. He was once fired from a Missouri newspaper for “not being creative enough." Although Walt encountered numerous failures, he became responsible for generations of childhood memories and dreams. From Snow White to Frozen, Disney will continue to entertain the world for generations to come.

J.K. Rowling

J.K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (the first book in the series) as a single mother. At this time, she and her family were living on welfare checks. To make matters worse she was rejected 12 times by publishers. After many failures, the Harry Potter series went on to break numerous sales records, turned into an incredibly successful film series, and earn a permanent place in the hearts of children and adults all over the world. J.K. Rowling is now worth an estimated $1 billion.

I share these stories with you for the purpose of restoring your passion the way it did for me. You see, failure is inevitable and obstacles will be there but don’t pass on passion. Passion will take you to places you would have never dreamt of. I believe that if you remain passionate, your marriage can be fixed, your business plan can come to pass, your family can be restored and the dreams that Lord has put in your heart can and will come to pass in Jesus name!
